Pack Mentality S2 Part 5

"Rick," Jackson's voice was soft, "I feel like this is directly related to what happened to me in the woods last week."

"Really?" Rick answered.

"Yeah.  I feel like we should head back out there and meet with Pheonix's Sun and then head back to that tree with the spiral on it.  I feel like I may have a connection to it in some way."

"So be it."

Rick and Jackson both mounted their ATVs and drove to Pheonix's Suns' Camp.  The drive was familiar to Jackson, as he had made it several times before.  As usual, In case the unthinkable happened, Jackson had his backpack and bow and arrow easily accessible.   Eventually, they arrived at the camp.  They dismounted their ATVs and entered the camp.  Bramble and Pheonix's Sun were waiting outside of Pheonix's Sun's den.

The camp was laid out quite simply.  In the center of the camp, there was a mildly tall rocky outcrop, where Pheonix's Sun often addressed the Tribe.  Just in front of the outcrop, was Pheonix's Sun's den, where Pheonix's Sun, and Priorly, Daniel lived.  From what they had heard from Raven, Quint, and George, the inside of the den was spectacular.

"What brings you to camp?"  Asked Pheonix's Sun.

"We have come to discuss something with you.  Has anyone in your tribe had an unusual experience within the last two weeks?"  Bramble nodded and Jackson asked. "May we speak with them?"

"Yes.  In fact, he is available right now."

"Where can we see them."

"Right in front of you."

Jackson and Rick exchanged a look of confused-laughter.  Trying to not laugh out of nervousness, Rick said, "Come with us. We are going to have to cross a border though, so stay close.  Just to follow protocol we will wait for a patrol, which may mean that we will be sleeping out tonight.  Jackson, I'll let your mother know we may be sleeping out tonight."

Jackson and Rick mounted their ATVs that were just outside of the camp entrance, while Bramble trotted alongside Jackson.  They traveled for about a half hour, pausing periodically so that Bramble could take a breather.   During those times, Rick checked his watch, to make sure that they had enough time to get back.  If, not they would have to spend the night out there.

The trio eventually reached the border with The Tribe of the Clearing Sky.  When they got there, they waited for about a half hour, and a patrol showed up.  Ash, Ester, Toad, and Lily were in the patrol.  Ash greeted the group and then led them towards the tree that Eagle's Flight had marked.

The spiral that was fresh when Eagles' Flight, Jackson, and Rick were there was less defined, but still visible.  Bramble and Jackson moved toward it and looked at it for a second then Jackson traced while Bramble sniffed it and the two of them were drawn into a completely different area.

The two of them were standing side by side and were watching a scene unfold in front of them.  It was dark outside in front of them.  They looked up to see what time it was and not a lot of moon was visible, but it was enough to reflect off of the ground.  The occasional raindrop fell on the two of them, and it eventually led to a downpour.  Just barely in the light, the two of them could make out the silhouette of a wolf.  He was looking at the moon, and then glanced over towards them. Bramble could just barely make out his reflection.  Then as quickly as the vision had begun, it ended.
