Pack Mentality: Season 1

Prologue

Jackson was on his fall camping trip with his family at yellowstone national park. He was about to get ready for bed when he realized He had to go to the bathroom.  He,
being an about 10 year old boy thought that he didn't have to tell his parents.  It was around 10:00 and his family was still out sitting by the campfire.

He grabbed his flashlight and started to walk to the nearest restroom which was a good 400 meters away. During his walk he just took a deep breath and breathed in the crisp fall air.  This is my favorite part of the year He thought to himself, because it was one of the few times that everyone in his family was getting along, and he really didn't have to worry about his homework because it was over Columbus day weekend.

He was about a 200 hundred to the restroom (he knew this because he was in cross country and track in school) when he heard some motion coming from the right.  He didn't really think much of it because the campground they were staying at was pet friendly, so he continued to walk.  A pace then another and another.  By this time he could tell that he was getting closer to the restroom.  20 seconds later he again he heard the sound of a stick cracking from the right. This time he froze and shined his flashlight over to the right to see if there was anything out there, and he didn't see anything.

He shrugged his shoulders and continued to walk, he was about 100 paces from the bathroom.  This time he was more aware of his surroundings because his fight or flight response had kicked on majorly.  He took a deep breath and continued.  Pace after pace.  Before he knew it he was at the bathroom, and opened the door and headed in.

Shortly after he was on his way out and walked briskly back to the campsite, but half way there he heard a howl, followed by another, and another, and another.  At this point he was terrified out of his mind.  He turned around and shined his flashlight in the area that the noises were coming from.  There had to be at least three wolves standing right in front of him.  At this, he dropped his flashlight and just about took off when he remembered his training from when he was early in the boy scouts, stand still and don't make any sudden movements.  So he did as he was told back in the day.  He thought to himself I can't wait to tell my parents what is happening right now.  He and the wolves stared at each other for a while and then the wolves turned around recognizing that he was not a threat.

He picked up his flashlight and booked it to the Campsite.  After a hundred meters he ran into someone and fell backwards from the force.  He looked up and a man's voice sy"where are you going to in such a hurry?"

at this Jackson shouted in shock and was shushed by the man that he ran into.  The Man said "Its quite hours, you shouldn't shout."
Relived, Jackson replied "I'm heading to my campsite right now.  What about you?"
The man answered "I work here.  Names Rick. Yours?"
"Jackson-"
"The way you handled yourself out there with those wolves was incredible.  You could be a forest ranger some day."
Taken aback, Jackson replied, "Th-thanks."
Rick said, "If you are free tomorrow I would like to tell you  a story about those wolves you encountered."
Jackson replied, "How could you tell those were the same ones?"
"They showed the same Etiquette  as the wolves back in the day."
even more confused and interested  Jackson said, "What time?"
Rick answered, "My shift ends at 7:00 tomorrow morning. You don't have to show up if you don't want to."
"I'll think about it.  Thanks for the compliment by the way."
Rick replied "No problem"

At this Jackson took off again and headed to his campsite.  When he got back, he realized he was the only one up and snuck into his tent.  He just lay awake thinking about what tomorrow would bring, and waiting for the adrenaline to wear down.
