Ballpark Review: Nationals Park
A Panorama of the outfield (Sears are on the right row four from the tarp) |
- Field Surface - Grass
- Type of stadium - Open
- Height - 120 ft
- Occupancy - 41,313
Easy To get to (0 - 3)
For this area I give Nationals Park a 2 Because it is out of the way of the city, but there was a stop on the Metro that was right next to the ballpark.
Parking (1-5)
Parking at Nationals Park is very expensive ($20 for the cheapest spots)and is kind of organized. However, it was easier to take public transportation, but that was not organized at all either, so it was kind of a pick your poison situation. I give this park a 2 for parking
Food Choices (Scale of 1 - 5)
The Food at Nationals park varies from Jamaican to Greek Also the food is really good too, so I give this ballpark a 5.
Family Friendliness (Scale of 1 - 5)
This area for this ballpark is kind of hard to rate because there were not a whole lot of family friendly activities such as a kids area for them to play in, but there was a picnic area which for me is more important than gaming areas. I am a family oriented person, and I think that spending a day at a ballpark and a picnic is great, so for this area I give this ballpark a 4. That being said though, there are several kids oriented activities outside of the ballpark, so that improves the score to 4.5.
Architecture (1-10)
This Ballpark is very modern looking and has several unique features that have carried over from the past. It also has an amazing charm to its modern design. So I give this ballpark a 8 because they could do somethings to make the noise level even louder (see Atmosphere).
Amenities (1-10)
This ballpark has amenities everywhere. The security people have stations and are very nice, bathrooms are everywhere, along with easy access to seats from the parking lot. There is also great seats for people who are handicapped. I give this area 9.
Atmosphere (1-10)
This ballpark is the LOUDEST Ballpark I have ever been to. The crowd was incredible also, even though we had a rain delay, and it was super hot out. The fans were also into it (even though the score was like 10 to 3). The preview for the Nats was also incredible. They had 8 people with Nats flags four on each dugout, resulting in the Stadium going crazy! I give this ballpark a 15 ( 5 pts Extra Credit) just for the noise level. There was also a comradely amount the fans. To give an example, if there was a fly foul ball headed a section over, a lot of people in my section screamed heads up!
Entertainment (1-15)
The entertainment at this ballpark is decent, but they need to do something different then the other ballparks. That being said though, the video board was kind of good, so I give it a 5 because they can improve the entertainment and find something fresh and different that the other ballparks do not have.
Appearance (1-15)
Globe Life Park is really sleek in design and also looked extremely clean. Props to the janitors that take care of this ballpark. Also, the outfield is very uniquely shaped and has several different elements that go with the location of the ballpark So I give this area a 15.
Overall Experience (Total and Letter Grade)
