Pack Mentality: Winter Premier Part 2
Bramble focused on the Bears Scent for awhile as time slowed down. As he was focusing on that scent he realized that the bear was a ways off from where he and spike were standing. He turned towards Spike and told him "I want you to head towards Camp and warn the tribe about the fire and tell them to head towards Sky's camp while I Track the scent to see where the fire is located and tell Rick about it." As bramble finished talking to Spike he looked up to the sky to see if he could see where the fire was located and saw a lot of light towards where he went to mark the tree for rick about the battle that had happened a couple of days ago. Shortly after, The Betas took off towards Lewis Lake, pacing with each other, and then they split.

Spike turned left and headed towards the camp of his pack. After what felt like several minutes Spike approached the camp, and saw that there was already movement of the members trying to get out of the camp. He immediately jumped in to help in what ever way he could. As he was was helping, he bumped into Stephan and immediately blurted out "There is a fire. I think that you all might have noticed. Bramble and I saw the light from the fire lingering over what we assumed was the campground. Bramble went to scout where the fire is. We also scented a Bear, but we felt like the fire is more of a threat at the moment. Is there anything I could do to help?"
Stephan answered , "well first of all we need to check on the senior members, and the Pups and get them out. Any Ideas on where?" "Bramble recommended going towards Sky's territory, and it seems that that makes more sense then most other directions because he is the only leader that seems friendly toward us at the moment." "Very well, Go join Raven, George, and Daniel. As you do so pass on the message." Spike answered "Lets get this camp empty." At this Spike and Stephan and parted ways to get the situation under control. Spike crossed the camp and barely spotted Daniel's silver and black fur in the light and helped. Soon after Spike joined the process, the camp was fully evacuated. As Spike, George, and Daniel were exiting the camp, Spike drew a circle with a line through it, and an arrow at the bottom to symbolize an evacuation and to help Bramble find the pack. The pack, having been evacuated, headed towards the sky's territory. After some time they reached the training hollow where Spike made a signal of the Circle with a line through it and another arrow pointing the direction they were going. The group continued until they reached the border where they paused as they heard a massive crack. Daniel flinched at the sound and called out to the tribe, "Stephanie, Spike Shaquille, Stephan and Taylor, Go towards that fire. We will Leave marks every several trees for survivors to join us. I will share the news of the fire with Sky and hope that he will send a patrol to join you. Now Go and serve our complex well." At this the patrol took off at a pace that they hoped that they could hold until they reached the campground. What felt like 2 hours passed as they ran through the woods, as they followed the lake around, Daniel stuck his nose up in the air to see if they were getting closer to the fire. At one point however, Daniel stuck his nose in the air and much to his surprise he picked up a familiar scent. As he recognized it, he called out to the party "Bramble!" The group picked up the pace after this point. After a time, the scent got stronger, and the atmosphere around the mission turned from a mission to help the humans to a rescue mission. As the patrol contiued to round the lake they could see the top of the flames. At this point they realized that they were much closer to the fire then they initially thought. They eventually got too a point where they saw a lot of brush. They stopped for a moment and looked at each other for a moment and then as one barged through it. Much to their surprise they saw another group of animals that included a bear, a fox, a wolf, an eagle, and a cougar. The patrol was startled by this combination (all except for Taylor, who seemed to be deep in thought). They continued on and as they got closer, Stephan began to recognize Bramble standing at the center of the group. Because the party got a positive Identification, they picked up the pace again. |
Bramble turned right to head to the campground where he saw the light from the fire lingering. As he contiued to follow the lake around, he picked up on a scent even stronger than the fire itself: the road.
He continued on cautiously, On occasion putting his nose up in the air, focusing on the scent of the fire. Out of the corner of his eye he saw some thing moving. As he turned his head, the animal came more into focus, and it turned out to be a fox. In this area of the territory the foxes were more friendly than other parts because the Pack had worked with them and set boundaries. Bramble called out to the fox, "Hey where are you off too?" The fox replied, "Same as you, trying to pinpoint the location of the fire. Maybe we could work together?" "Ok. We think that the fire is coming from the direction of the campground, so we should probably check there first. Also, we are close to Rick who is the ranger at this particular complex." At this he and the fox stopped talking for a while and then heard something big. After they heard the sound, Bramble and the fox turned to the right and jumped at what they saw. It was the bear that Bramble and Spike had scented in the forest. As they turned, they jumped a foot in the air. Then they heard the bear say that he wanted to help. Just as soon as they started to settle down from the bear joining the chase, They heard the call of an eagle swooping down saying "The fire is about two bear lengths from the edge of the road! "At this they started to arrive at the camp ground. Bramble and the crew arrived at the Ranger station. Bramble clawed at the door, and Rick answered the door. "Yes?" Bramble said. "There is a fire about two bear lengths from the edge of the road!" "The fire department has already been called they should be here soon. Go to your pack, and thank you." At this the band turned back and ran towards Daniel's camp. Just as they turned back the group heard a massive crack that they could only assume was tree falling across the road, and when it hit the ground, the campground exploded into flames. The Band heard a lot of screams from the campground. When they heard those noises they skidded to a halt and froze for a second and the fox asked "Should we turn around?" The group nodded their heads almost in unison and turned back. Several minutes passed and they broke through the brush into the campground to see a mess of flame surrounding the campground, and Bramble broke the silence and shock in the group with the name of someone who his mentor had been assigned to look over "Jackson!" He said out loud. Just as he turned around to talk about a plan to combat the fire, the group of predators heard a roar coming from the left. He contiued his turn and flattened his ears as he saw a mountain lion. "What do you want!" he growled. The lion in a calming tone said, "I want to help. What can I do?" Bramble, answered, "I was just about to share a plan. You couldn't have come at a better time to show up because we do not have enough animals in this group to pull out an evacuation plan. So here is what I have come up with. The fox and I will go to the Ranger station, and the bear and the lion should go through the campground and help those people that need it, then, show them where to go. I say that we tell them to go towards Yellowstone lake. Lets go-." At this Bramble looked up and saw Spike, Shaquillle, Stephanie, Stephan and Taylor. He breathed a sigh of relief and started over. "Lets go get this done and may the Packs of old Help us." |
Stephan ran towards Bramble and clawed his ear playfully "Whats the Plan?"
Bramble stated simply, "Get people out. Me and the fox are going to get Jackson and his Family out. You should join us there. The rest of you get people out and tell them to go towards Yellowstone Lake. Sound good?"
"Yes I'll Pass it on. I will be sure to recommend you to Daniel for this. Lets get this done." Bramble and Daniel howled signaling the group to charge into the campground and help where they were needed.
Stephan, Bramble, and the fox headed to the ranger station as the fire seemed to be getting closer and closer as they heard the sirens from the fire department. They looked at each other and let out a collective sigh of relief. They continued to approach the cabin as Rick and Jackson barged out the door with Jackson's mother behind them. Rick Seemed to be telling them to go to Yellowstone lake, but Jackson seemed to be wanting to stay with him. Rick nodded, and as they got closer they picked up the tail end of the conversation "... Just as long as you stay near me." Jackson and Rick climbed into Ricks truck and started the engine, as Jacksons mother hopped on the ATV.
At this, the two wolves and the fox jumped up into the bed of Ricks truck just as it was pulling away. Everyone was at the campground for several hours helping where ever they could.
After some time the Fires were under control with no fatalities, but several burns were reported. Taylor was hanging around and treating the burns on the animals, but when she got to Bramble she told him something that surprised him. She said, "Those predators that joined you was not a coincidence. I belief that it may be a sign from the Packs of old-"
Bramble interrupted, "What?"
"Yeah. Stuff like that doesn't happen. I think it means that -" She was cut off by Bramble saying "Lets continue this conversation in private. You have many more animals to treat. Thank you." He gave her a curt nod and headed towards where the eagle was. Soon after he found it and told it to fly and try and find Daniel and tell him that the camp was safe. The eagle nodded and flew off.
While the eagle was in the air, he saw that the tribe was halfway into a territory that was unclaimed as he understood, so he flew in that direction. Several moments passed ad he started his decent.

Daniel was just staring up at the stars as all the events of the night were sinking in. A celebration turned into a tragedy in an instant, and he was starting to think about where he was in his life. He was beginning to think about announcing a trainee and that choice seemed to be becoming more clear.
As he was lost in his thoughts he saw a glimmer of movement. As it got closer, he was able to identify it as an eagle and he thought to himself What is an eagle doing approaching me. The eagle landed, and starting talking "I bring news from the campground"
Daniel gave a curt nod, "Continue. Who sent you?"
"I was sent by Bramble. The fire is under control and you may return to your camp."
"Good I'll tell my tribe." The eagle flew away and he continued, "Let all Wolves young and old gather around me for a tribe meeting. I can tell that you all are tired from tonight, but this night is almost over. I have received News that it is safe to return to camp. When we get back, I am declaring a days rest for all of us because I feel like it is much needed. However, the next day we will need to double the patrols, now lets go home." They turned around and headed back to the camp.
***
Meanwhile, at ground zero Taylor was finished treating and everything seemed to be getting somewhat back to normal. All The evacuees, at least those that weren't hurt, were headed back to their campsites, and given that the majority of the night was over, the animals left and went their separate directions, showing there gratefulness for each other.

When the tribe got back to the camp, Stephan and Bramble approached Daniel. Stephan started the conversation. "Daniel, Could we speak to you for a moment?"
Daniel nodded, "Yes. What is this about?"
"An uprising of a Beta."
At this Daniels Ears pricked up curiously. "Uh huh"
"Yes. I believe that Bramble proved himself worthy to pass on to the next part of his time as a member. He thought up a fantastic plan to rescue the humans. He also showed Bravery in the way that he carried himself in the fire. He inhaled a lot of smoke, but still didn't run outside of the fire to get his breath. He also showed the protection that one needs in a tribe when it comes to keeping younger members safer than those who are further along."
Daniel approved. He also added "that is not the only promotion I am giving tonight." Stephan was relatively confused at this comment but then remembered his conversation that he had with Daniel earlier in the week.
A couple of minutes passed as Stephan and Bramble started walking towards their dens but then heard Daniels call echo around the camp. "Let all wolves young and old gather around me, Bramble and Stephan for a tribe meeting." Bramble stepped up excitedly and Stephan seemed to hesitate after he heard his name. "They have both served their tribe well in the positions that they are in right now, but the time has come for them to move to different areas of tribe life. Bramble you have exhibited great bravery tonight, and also in the battle with Carlton's tribe. Not only that, but you bent the rules that envolve enemies of Wolves in a way that benefited everybody in the group that you worked with. Also, you were the owner of the great plan to get the humans out of the burning campground. With that I want to welcome him into full time service for the tribe as a member." Howls of approval filled the camp.
Daniel Paused until the noise died down. "Also after doing some pondering tonight, I have decided that the time has come for me to appoint a trainee to fill my spot when I retire. After several meetings with Taylor, I have picked Stephan to take over as my trainee. He has served our tribe well in the position he has been in for many moons. I feel like he will fill my Leadership with Dignity and Loyalty. He exhibited these qualities tonight with handing the Reins to his Beta who was on site for a longer period of time. He also exhibited quick thinking in the battle with Carlton's Tribe. Please step in front of me." Stephan did as he was told. "Welcome to your new post. I hope to pass on everything that I learned from the trainer before me."
Stephan Nodded, "and I will try my best to learn all I can from you." At this the clearing erupted into cheers for the two members, and after several moments everyone went to their den.
