Times are changing
Over the last few weeks I have been doing a lot of reflecting, and after a time, I have made a decision that I was going to scrap Blogger. I am still going to be blogging, but I am going to be doing this over a different platform. There are several reasons I am making this decision, and I hope to help you understand the reasoning.
The primary reason for stepping away from Blogger is one that I have been struggling with ever since I had been doing this from the start of year two. I have about 6244 views, 0 Comments, and 1 follower (who I told to follow me). 68 of those views are from a place where you can buy people to view your posts as a sample. I have only had 1 retweet and that was from a smaller band because I stumbled upon their music and gave them a great review. I also have a thing where you can send me a message, and I have never received anything. I can't help but think at least half of the 6244 views are from bots mainly because there was no shares, +1s, likes, or comments. Just to show some comparison, I have had Quantcast measure on my blog just to see the demographics. One would think that 6,244 views were enough to spark some information, but according to Quantcast, I only have 42 views, which is hardly anything for the last several years of work.
The second reason for stepping away from blogger is because I really don't see the reason for using google when the primary site for sharing the posts has been disbanded because Google did not see it fit to keep the brand. I do not know the reason for this decision, but I do know that something needs to change.
The third reason I am stepping away from blogger is that I do not have a way to see who is subscribed to the blog if there is anybody when I cannot see the reach of the blog. I also cannot see what sort of stuff interests my subscribers, let alone the demographics that I am appealing to. It seems as if Google is only partial to the bigger blogs.
I really do not want to seem selfish, but the final reason I am leaving is the lack of funds. In order to drive people to this blog, I have to pay Google. I do not want to pay to make it appear that I am succeceeding when I am only doing this because want to improve my writing ability. I really do not have the money to make that payment, so I had to earn money to make that payment. As a result, I have applied to make money through this blog. Through this, I have discovered that I have some copyright issues when all of my content is original, except for the occasional album cover, or movie poster, giving credit to the makers of the designs.
For the last part of this post, I would like to thank all of you for the continuous support even with my shortcomings. I know that I am not the best writer or the best at keeping up with everything I am doing on a daily basis. When I look back on my old posts I can't help but laugh at how bad my writing was. Thanks to you all giving me the chance to improve my writing and I hope to make it all worth it. All this being said I am going to be in a period of transition over the next couple of months. All of this leading up to the 5-year celebration of Tangent that I want to be big. I really hope that you all stick with me in the coming months.
I am going to be moving over to Wordpress, just because I feel like I will gain more respect over there. Thank you, Google for everything you have done for me. I am going to be keeping this site for the next couple of months so that you all will be able to keep up with what is going to be going on. After that timeframe though, I will be deleting this blog and the content which has gotten me this far.
