Pack Mentality: Like One Body

Just as he finished that sentence, Darlene opened the door, "I thought this was where you would be, How are you boys doing?"
Rick and Jackson responded at the same time awkwardly, "Uh, just having a conversation."
Jackson resumed, "Well Rick told me he had to ask us some questions he didn't say specifically what about, though, I have some ideas about what he is going to ask us about, however. So, Rick, you can continue."
Rick opened up the conversation, "So it has been several days since I arrested your husband and dad, and since I was the first officer on the scene I have to collect the statements from you two. I do know that I need to tread lightly because I don't want to open any old wounds. I will be mainly asking about what happened, the timeline, and just talk a little bit about your family, Mainly your husbands history also. So, I am going to start with you Darlene and collect your statement. Jackson, you don't need to be here for this unless you think that it would be best if you should stay to fill in the holes in her story. I could also interview you both at the same time."
Jackson could pick up in Rick's body language that he was not looking forward to this conversation. He almost seemed to be stumbling through those words and struggling to hold his emotions in check. He thought to himself If this doesn't show that he has feelings for us two, I don't know what will.
Darlene responded, "Well a couple of nights ago we were trying to figure out what to do since there was a chance of a good amount of snow, and honestly that did happen, but my husband told me he could use a beer to get his thoughts out of his head, I told him to be careful because I did know that he tends to be a grumpy drunk. The more he drank, the worse the situation seemed to get. After his 4th beer things started to get a little bit sketchy. I tried to hide The next one, But as I started to get up and walk away from the situation he started to talk saying slurred, "Where are you going." At that point, he grabbed my arm and started to pull me back towards my chair. As I started to try and pull away I saw Jackson start to come out of the tent I told him to get back in."
Jackson piped up, "Which I did, and when I was inside I started thinking about what to do while I heard noises coming from the outside. I could tell that things were starting to get physical."
"Those noises that Jackson heard were me getting thrown down into my chair and the ground. He eventually grabbed the beer from my hand, and through it against a tree that was on our site. I got grazed by a larger piece of glass that Ricocheted off the tree.
"At this point, I said to myself screw it and came out of the tent to attempt to separate him from my-"
Rick interrupted, "So against your mom's wishes, you stepped up?"
Jackson replied, "Yes. In the process of peeling him off my mom, I got hit. At that point, I decided to get up and get you, Rick."
Rick continued, "Ok, so now has this happened before?"
Darlene spoke again, "Yes, but not to this point. Before it has gotten to a shouting match, but nothing really beyond that."
After several moments of silence, Darlene opened the conversation "So how was your talk with Jackson?"
Rick responded, "Ok so in a sense this has happened before, but never physical?"
Darlene and Jackson looked at each other for an extended period of time, then turned to face Rick. "Yep."
Rick resumed, "Ok that is really all I need to do work wise. Other than that I have to run this statement with a little bit more paperwork. How about a nice walk in the woods to clear our heads and put this behind us." He winked at Jackson, just out of Darlene's view.
Jackson answered and winked back, "That sounds like a great idea."
Darlene saw Jackson's face twitch out of the corner of her eye and just shook her head boys. "Let me just shower and grab some food."
Jackson and Rick looked at each other for a couple of minutes, waiting for the water to turn on. Then Jackson said, "That was smooth. Small victories make big ones in the long term."

Meanwhile, at Daniels camp, Stephan was starting to settle into his new role that he had received the night of the fire. He just had encountered a few hiccups on the way, but there was a reason that he had to get some training. Overall, however, he hadn't heard anything negative from Daniel.
Towards the end of the day, though, multiple patrols had reported back that had been picking up scents of Carlton's Tribe on their side of the territory. Stephan had reported this to Daniel and Daniel told him to increase patrols over by Carlton's territory. Things had seemed to be calming down after the meeting with the leaders after the gathering, but was Carlton's Tribe starting to get impatient? started to be the question that everyone seemed to be asking. More importantly, however, this was the night that Taylor, the tribe medic was to go to The Geyser, where leaders and medics go for wisdom from the Packs of Old.
She had eaten some traveling herbs and did some brief training of Piper in case some of the members of the pack had some difficulties during the night. She told Daniel and Stephan that she was off and that she will be back in the morning. Stephan appointed David to escort her as far as the neutral territory, at least for the time being, because of the vote that happened over the previous week. Since everyone voted early, the preparations were going to be starting sooner than expected. The official ruling was to come from Rick within the next couple of days.
As Taylor and David were talking, they picked up on another noise. David told Taylor to stop and get down. They both eventually crouched down until their belly fur was touching the ground. Lucky for them there was a bush in front to hide behind. David, while crouching, crept towards the edge of the bush that was farthest from Taylor. He peeked his head around the corner and was relieved to find out that it was only a deer. He crept back behind the bush and told Taylor that it was ok and they continued on. Before they knew it they reached the border, and David wished her good luck.
The journey wasn't even half over for Taylor. She still had to go around the edge of Sky's territory and then she had to go beyond the territories around Shoshone Lake just to get there.
Quite some time passed when she eventually reached Sky's territory. Then after that, she eventually shook her head and thought to herself I wish this place was closer. But it is one of the most sacred places in the history of the tribes.
She eventually got to The Geyser and waited for the three spurt cue that it was about to erupt. She moved forward until she was on the rock. Then shortly after, It erupted and it was one of the most beautiful things that one could see in the moonlight. The water sparkled in the moonlight, like the members of the packs of old do. When it reached the ground she fell asleep.
In her dream, The water splashed up into the forms of the members of the packs of old. She heard a voice coming from the form "Greetings. We know why you have come. You seek clarification? Do you not?"
"Yes. I think we may have had a sign from you. What does it mean?"
The voice continued, "A time of great change is coming, Taylor. To survive one must join with those whom one would least expect. Greater is one with friends than one without. A lone wolf is an easy target, One with a pack, however, is less. Think like one body, not one part." The last part repeated once with the one voice, then it turned to a chant with multiple voices, it then faded with the faint sunlight.
Taylor woke up looking at the shadows guessing the time as 4:00. She knew that The Geyser opened at sunrise, so she ran away from The Geyser. She eventually cleared the parking lot and then ran deep into the woods. She eventually stopped to get some rest. After some time she left her camp and continued on her long journey home.

She eventually got to Sky's Territory and ran into a morning patrol. Inside that patrol was Kyle, Ash, and Lucy. She asked for an escort this time because there was action on the border. Then after some time, she reached the end of Sky's Territory. She then continued to her own territory and then eventually reached camp.
She walked into camp with warm and welcoming nods and then was approached by Bramble who told her that Daniel was inside of his den. She waited until Stephanie or Daniel told her that she could go in. She eventually heard Daniels voice call saying, "Come in Taylor. I take it you have news from The Geyser?"
"Yes, I do. My initial inclination was wrong. I know that I said that Bramble was a major part of the prophecy, but it turns out that Bramble is just a single piece." Daniel looked at her curiously. Taylor took notice of his facial expression and continued, "It turns out it was about joining forces with the one you would least expect, and also went into a talking about lone wolfs and how they are an easy target and then talked about thinking like one body, not one part."
Daniel spoke up finally, "That actually helps a little bit. What do you think that it means?"
Taylor answered, "I don't know. I do know that it is not talking about one individual wolf."
